Stove Top Coffee Makers

With the overwhelming supply and variety of mass produced coffee makers sometimes I wonder why everyone is spending so much money for something that can be done on the stove top which can give the result of much better flavor. I have tried many different coffee machines. Ones that grind the beans immediately before brewing, ones that use special little packets to custom make the coffee, and even ones that use special steam apparatus to make the coffee into what is considered a specialty drink. But in the end, the pure taste of Stove Top Coffee Makers is better than all of these technologically advanced machines.

Most people believe that the exact process of the stove top maker makes a better cup of coffee because of the way the steam transforms the coffee. This is because of the way stove top coffee makers are designed. With a stove top coffee maker there is water in the bottom, then an area that holds the coffee grounds above it, and then there is a collection chamber at the top. When the pot is filled with water and coffee grounds it is placed on the stove top. When heated the water will steam. The specific design of the pot forces the steam to compress and brew the coffee as it enters the area where the grounds have been placed. Once brewed the steam rises up into the collection chamber as coffee.

It is an interesting process that produces an absolutely wonderfully flavored cup of coffee. Even with low cost beans, it seems that the stove top coffee makers are much better at extracting flavor than most machines I have tried. They say this is because the coffee and steam are doing the brewing, not just coffee and water. Something about the temperature and the way it more effectively extracts flavor from the grounds. Apparently the high temperature, according to the coffee experts, make for a more efficient blending of water and coffee thus resulting in better flavor, more caffeine, and an overall stronger brew.

I am not a coffee scientist so I do not know the exact reasons. All I do know, is that stove top coffee makers are interesting, fun to use, and make a fantastic cup of coffee. There is also a certain feeling of simplicity that adds to the enjoyment of coffee from stove top coffee makers. It feels relaxing to be temporarily stepping away from the artificial technology of the standard coffee "machine".
