Freeze Dried Coffee
Coffee is one of the most favorite beverages throughout the world. Almost everybody likes coffee, although the type of coffee may change. Some like it black, while some go for a milkier version of the coffee. However, everybody is so used to the instant coffee mix that we do not even bother to know the process behind our favorite drink.
Instant coffee is made by freeze drying or spray drying the coffee beans. The coffee beans are first dried and then rehydrated to form the instant coffee mix that we all use. In the freeze drying process, the brewed coffee is frozen into small granules with the help of intricate processes. It is then placed in a vacuum chamber so as to dehydrate it, and remove all the water. The resultant Freeze Dried Coffee can then be stored over a long period of time. It also gives much better results in terms of quality, and also preserves better flavor, than spray dried coffee.
Instant coffee was invented by a Japanese scientist while working in Chicago. The processes have since been simplified and with the advent of technology, made faster. The very simplicity of freeze dried coffee compared to the difficulty in preparing coffee from the fresh beans, made it an instant hit around the world.
Even though, a large number of people are moving back towards fresh ground coffee, freeze dried coffee is still the favorite of many people throughout the world. Probably because of the sheer convenience, or they prefer the flavor that it provides. The freeze dried coffee contains only about 3-5 percent water content that helps it to last much longer than ground coffee.
As the world becomes more and more health conscious, the instant coffee mix has been revamped. For this, the freeze dried coffee was also modified in the form of decaf. This has minimal caffeine content, although can be very tasty as it is usually made from arabica beans.
With the instant coffee, comes the comfort of selecting the strength of the drink. This can be easily done by adding more or less water, or more or less coffee. However you prefer your coffee, freeze dried coffee allows you to make it in an instant, giving you more time to enjoy your favorite beverage.
