Commercial Coffee Roasting

When someone is looking into Commercial Coffee Roasting they are seeking out information for one of three things: a coffee roasting company that will supply them with coffee as a commercial customer, information on the equipment needed for the commercial roasting of coffee, or methodology used in commercial coffee roasting.

There are several companies that will supply you with coffee that is roasted for commercial purposes. Companies that need this type of service are:
1. Independent coffee shops that sell to retail customers
2. Users of large quantities of coffee. Hotels, restaurant chains, caterers
3. Those that want a private label coffee supplier

The independent coffee shops are ones that you find in any neighborhood strip mall or commercial center. They need coffee on a commercial basis but do not have the capability to roast their own beans.

The users of large quantities of coffee oftentimes seek out a commercial coffee roasting supplier to meet their needs at a discounted price compared to what they would pay to a retail coffee roaster. For example, if I owned several hotels and wanted to supply coffee to all of my guests, I may seek out a company capable of commercial coffee roasting.

Private label coffee from a commercial roaster is very common. There are many companies that wish to market or brand a coffee but they do not want to roast the coffee themselves. These companies are normally marketing companies. This private labeling is very common across many food labels and is a service of many large commercial coffee roasting companies. In fact, there are famous label coffee roasters that also sell their commercial coffee roasting services to private label brands.

There is a very wide range of equipment available for commercial coffee roasting. The type of equipment you purchase is dictated by the volume of coffee you wish to produce. There is no way to break down the various suppliers without first identifying your use. If you wish to start your own commercial coffee roasting business on a large scale you will need large scale industrial equipment. If you wish to buy commercial coffee roasting equipment to start a small roasting company you may want to seek out equipment that caters to non industrial applications.

This same differentiation applies to commercial coffee roasting methodologies. If you are roasting on an industrial and commercial scale or simply want commercial grade coffee roasting equipment but plan on actually roasting a retail quantity of coffee. The quality of coffee you expect to produce will also dictate the specific methodology you employ.

There are many that seek out specific information regarding commercial coffee roasting. Some are simply looking for someone else to meet their needs, while others are planning to be the commercial coffee roaster themselves. No matter what you are specifically interested in, you need to identify the quality and quantity of output that you are interested in. This will then assist in narrowing your search for a commercial coffee roaster, or equipment, or methodology that will meet your expectations.
