The first thing you should consider is how you are going to use the mug. If you are going to use it while driving then you need to take a look at the cup holders in your car in order to determine what type of mugs will fit. If you plan on using the mug while cycling or some other outdoor activity you should also look into ones that compliment that type of activity. And finally if you are looking for a mug with a lid simply because the lid will keep it hotter longer, and you are using it just for home use, you should know that your options are wide open.
The second thing to do when you are considering buying coffee mugs with lids is to think about the types of lids that you most like to drink from. This is important because everyone has a preference. Maybe you like the lids that require your upper lip to push down on a part of the lid in order for the coffee to flow. Or maybe you do not want to ruin your lipstick and prefer a lid that has a handle that is pressed in order to allow access to the coffee. It is personal preference but certainly worth considering the type of lid you like most before buying.

I had a great looking mug one time that had the perfect lid and even fitted in my car cup holder. The problem was that it was poorly insulated and was always hot to the touch. I soon purchased another, better insulated coffee mug.
This is why it is important to think of all three of the above factors before buying any coffee mugs with lids. Any single factor can make the mug worthless and something you will want to throw away. Then you will be, once again, looking to buy another and remembering that you should have acknowledged the above three factors the first time.
