Coffee Maker Robot
When you first hear that there is a Coffee Maker Robot you begin to wonder what exactly is being described. At first you may think of a robot that makes coffee. But that would be a robot coffee maker. A coffee maker robot is what most people refer to when they describe a coffee maker that has flexibility in the type of coffee it makes at the touch of a button.
The first coffee maker robot advertisement was in 1937 when Farberware was simply marketing an automatic drip coffee maker. At the time this was technology at its finest. Since that time we expect much more from a coffee maker before we will call it a coffee maker robot.
These days we expect the machine to brew everything from a standard cup of coffee to a full foamy latte at the push of a single button. You may have seen primitive machines like this in vending areas of public buildings. You will push a different button for each type of drink to be produced by the machine. The usual options are coffee, latte, espresso, mocha, or hot chocolate. Once you selected your preferred drink it would be automatically poured into a cup that you could take from the machine. The drinks ranged in taste from OK to "good enough". They were not focused on quality as much as they were made for the convenience of offering several hot beverages in one machine. These were just called vending machines at the time. But they now have been optimized and perfected for home use. A single machine, priced for home use, that can produce different drinks at your command. This is the modern day coffee maker robot.
The current most famous of these coffee maker robots is the Tassimo Brewbot. The Brewbot is a single machine, from which you are able to make a variety of drinks. To make different drinks, you purchase separately an item called a t-disk ("t" stands for Tassimo). The t-disk is a little package of ingredients specific to the cup of coffee you desire. For example, if you choose a latte t-disk, you put the t-disk into the machine and it will brew and pour put a latte for you. Choose a t-disk for some other drink and you will get that specific drink.
Other companies make similar coffee robots such as Nesbot, Keurig, Nespresso, and Lavazza Blue. Tassimo's Brewbot is the most famous though because they had a very popular advertising campaign that popularized their product over the competing coffee maker robot brands.
